If you are considering investing in an eco-friendly heat pump system to heat and cool your New Hampshire home, we have great news. Footing the bill for any major home purchase can be daunting, but thankfully, you may not have to cover it entirely thanks to incentives for those choosing innovative heat pump technology. By checking the efficiency ratings of the unit before purchase, you can see if it qualifies for NH Saves rebates. Rebates are calculated at $250 per ton.

For Eversource, Liberty, and Unitil Electric customers, rebates only apply to air-source heat pumps. Look for the following ratings:

Ductless
HSPF2: 8.5
SEER2: 15.2
HCR at 5F: 70%
COP at 5F: 1.75
Ducted
HSPF2: 8.1
SEER2: 15.2
HCR at 5F: 70%
COP at 5F: 1.75

For New Hampshire Electric Cooperative members, rebates apply to air-source and geothermal heat pumps. Look for the following ratings:

Ductless
SEER2: ≥ 16.0
EER2: ≥ 9.0
HSPF2: ≥ 9.5
COP @ 5F: ≥ 1.75
Ducted
SEER2: ≥ 15.2
EER2: ≥ 10.0
HSPF2: ≥ 8.1
COP @ 5F: ≥ 1.75

More Ways to Save

The Inflation Reduction Act's Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit: This initiative provides $2,000 to homeowners for qualified heat pumps with a thermal efficiency rating of at least 75%.

Tax Section 25D: A tax credit for homeowners equal to 30% of installation costs for an ENERGY STAR® geothermal heat pump.

The High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate Program: This rebate, coming soon to NH, provides up to $8,000 for all-electric heat pumps. Your total savings is dependent on your income level.
